Totals not final yet after Giving Tuesday
Volunteers set out Tuesday to collect money during the annual #GivingTuesdayLBK campaign.
Michelle Tosi-Stephens, vice president of developmental and external affairs for The Community Foundation of West Texas, which includes the Plainview Area Endowment, said Plainview collected more than $30,000.
The Foundation as a whole raised $244,000, she added.
But those numbers reflect only the money collected at donation sites, she said. She and other individuals affiliated with the Plainview Area Endowment expect more money to trickle in until at least Friday, so those totals will likely grow.
Earlier this month, individuals with the Plainview Area Endowment told The Herald $30,000 was the goal they hoped to meet.
Giving Tuesday is a nationwide movement to raise money for nonprofits. The campaign was brought to the area by a Lubbock nonprofit and localized in 2014, Tosi-Stephens told The Herald earlier this month.
Sixty-four area nonprofits, including the Plainview Area Endowment, participated in the fundraiser.
Even though the official campaign is called #GivingTuesdayLBK, the money raised by the Plainview Area Endowment is local.
